Mineral pigments
Pigment is a substance that changes the color of reflected or transmitted light due to selective absorption of wavelengths. In other words, it is a material that has a specific color because it selectively absorbs certain wavelengths of light.
The main purpose of using pigments is to provide color to materials, whether these materials are fabrics or paints. Some people often confuse pigments with dyes, but these two are quite different. The major difference between the two is their solubility.
While dyes can automatically dissolve in a liquid, pigments can dissolve in a liquid only with the help of a stabilizing agent. Dyes are mainly used in the textile and paper industries, while pigments are used in industries like paint coloring, inks, cosmetics, and plastics.
Types of Pigments
Based on the method of formulating pigments, they are divided into two main categories: organic pigments and inorganic pigments.
Organic Pigments: These types of pigments occur naturally and have been used for centuries. They have a simple chemical structure and are called organic because they include minerals and metals that create their specific color. Manufacturers produce organic pigments through a simple process that includes washing, drying, powdering, and combining them into formulations. These types of pigments are used when the desired color strength is not very high.
Mineral Pigments: These pigments, also known as synthetic pigments, are formulated in laboratories and their production process usually involves oxidation. Inorganic pigments are typically used in industries such as paint, plastics, synthetic fibers, and ink. These pigments are ideal for applications requiring bright colors and also include opaque white pigments that are used to lighten other colors and create opacity.
The red pigment Hyrox 160, 180, 110F, 110M, 130, and 101 Y, as various forms of red iron oxide, are used to create a wide range of red colors in these industries. These products are ideal for industrial environments due to their high light stability and excellent covering power.
The black pigment Hyrox 750 is also used for creating dark, durable surfaces due to its similar properties. In addition, the orange pigment Hyrox 960, besides the standard variety, offers customization for specific combinations. This wide range of products covers various needs in the construction and manufacturing industries and is highly regarded by many producers for its performance and quality.
