Antioxidant TNPP
Tris(nonylphenyl)phosphite (TNPP) is an organophosphate compound that is commonly used as an antioxidant and stabilizer in various industries. It is a colorless, tasteless, non-toxic solution that appears light yellowish. This solution is used as a primary color preservative, improving the optical stability and transparency of the final product. TNPP is primarily utilized as an antioxidant, specifically a secondary antioxidant. It works in combination with primary antioxidants to enhance their effectiveness and provide synergistic antioxidant protection. This solution is soluble in acetone, ethanol, ether, oil, petroleum and carbon tetrachloride, but it does not dissolve in water and decomposes in water and acidic environment.
Applications:
· Polymer industry: TNPP stabilizes polymers, such as plastics and synthetic fibers, by enhancing their resistance to heat, light, and oxygen. It extends their lifespan and maintains mechanical properties.
· Adhesives: TNPP prevents oxidative degradation in adhesives and sealants, ensuring their stability and bonding properties over time.
· Coatings and paints: TNPP protect polymer binders and pigments in coatings and paints from oxidation, preserving quality, appearance, and durability.
· Synthetic lubricants: TNPP acts as an antioxidant in synthetic lubricants, preventing oxidation and degradation, improving lubrication properties, and protecting surfaces from wear and corrosion.
· Fuel additives: TNPP is used as an antioxidant in gasoline and diesel fuel additives to prevent oxidation during storage, improving stability and reducing deposits formation.
“ TNPP is a versatile antioxidant widely used in various industries, including the polymer industry, where it stabilizes polymers, enhances their resistance to degradation, and extends their lifespan. ”
